A Rich History

The Howard County Youth Program was established in 1952 as an organization sponsoring baseball in Howard County, Maryland.  While HCYP has provided a venue for baseball for over 60 years, the HCYP Raiders travel baseball program traces its roots back to the Dayton Raiders who played at Buckshot Field in Dayton, Maryland.  When the Dayton team folded, HCYP Baseball invested money and hours of volunteer manpower into restoring Buckshot Field, co-located at the Dayton Rod and Gun Club. As an acknowledgement of the proud history of the Dayton Raiders, HCYP kept the Raiders name for their travel program and the use of Buckshot is now enjoyed by all HCYP baseball teams.

Through the years, the HCYP Raiders have enjoyed tremendous success on and off the field. HCYP Raiders teams play in high level baseball divisions across Maryland and play national baseball tournaments throughout the year. HCYP Raiders teams have captured numerous league titles and tournament championships and always looked upon as a model organization representing the highest standards in baseball. Their commitment to developing baseball players and young adults remains paramount and is evident throughout the organization.
